Baby Premier 4D Baby Scans - Reassurance & Bonding Scan

What is a 4D baby scan?

Baby Premier’s 4D baby scan gives you a unique opportunity to bond with your unborn baby during pregnancy. We perform all 4D scans using the latest 4D ultrasound machines from GE Healthcare - a world leader in 2D, 3D and 4D ultrasound scanning systems. All our ultrasound machines generate real-time moving images of your baby in the womb.

Seeing is believing...You know you have a baby on the way, but it’s still hard to believe. Just imagine how wonderfully bonded you would feel if you could actually see your baby. Well now you don’t have to imagine with a Baby Premier 4D scan you really can see your baby.

How are our 4D scans different?

All of our 4D scans include a full growth assessment, this includes a check of your baby’s heartbeat, the placenta and the size of your baby. 4D baby scans are used to look at the outer layer and show babies movements in real time.

At your request we can also determine the gender of your baby. If you do not want to know this please let your sonographer know at the start of the scan.

We recommend 4D baby scans are performed between 26 – 32 weeks of pregnancy. This is generally the best time to capture detailed animated facial movements because your baby will have put on weight and there is still enough space in the womb for your baby to move around.

With the expertise of our sonographers we have captured many precious moving images including waving, yawning, smiling, kicking, arm stretches and sleeping.  However, please remember our sonographers can only show you what your baby is doing at the time of the scan and we are unable to actually make your baby do something they don't want to.

What does the 4D image quality depend on?

• Your baby’s position
• Position of the placenta
• Amount of amniotic fluid around your baby
• Size of the mum-to-be

Preparing for and during your scan

• You will receive a confirmation letter and registration form
• Allow up to 40 minutes for your appointment, of which you can expect around 20 minutes of scanning time dependant upon the position of your baby
• It is not a necessity to arrive with a full bladder
• Occasionally we may ask you to go for a walk or drink some fluids if your baby is lying in an awkward position.  If you can bring a fizzy drink and a chocolate bar with you to consume to wake your baby up in case of a bad position but please DO NOT consume these unless asked to do so by our Sonographer.
