Why is Baby Premier different to a lot of other scanning companies and 4D studios?

Baby Premier is the obstetric and gynaecological division of the Medical Ultrasound Company Specialist Medical Imaging Ltd (SMI Ltd). 

Baby Premier currently has clinics in London (Devonshire Place), Manchester,  Northwich (Cheshire), Cambridge, Sevenoaks (Kent), Hertford (Hertfordshire) and Windsor (Berkshire). 

Staff

As a full range of scans is available there is an extensive team of professionals working in the service. Scans can be performed by:

• Medical Consultants (Obstetricians, Radiologists and Fetal medicine specialists)
   
• Dually qualified midwife sonographers
   
• Accredited ultrasonographers

As some Baby Premier scans are performed by Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, patients can be easily referred on for further clinical advice and follow up when needed.

Indemnity and Legal Liability

• All staff are covered by a group indemnity insurance policy supplied by the Medical defence union - MDU. This provides comprehensive insurance cover for all sonographers/midwives working at SMI Ltd. This group scheme has been in operation since December 2004.

Although we perform many bonding scans Baby Premier is not just a 4D studio - It is an accredited medical ultrasound service:

• SMI Ltd is accredited by BUPA, AXA PPP and other private medical insurers. This type of cover is not available at ultrasonographer run clinics and studios. Accreditation by a private medical insurer involves an extensive audit of company safety and procedure protocols for both administrative and medical staff.  
   
• SMI Ltd / Baby Premier is a member of the (BPA) Baby Products Association
   
• Baby Premier is recognized and advertised by Midwives online
   
• Baby Premier is the only ultrasound company approved by the Royal College of Midwives.
   
• The company Medical Director oversees all scanning and procedure protocols, which are continually modified according to all good practice guidelines and safety standards issued by the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS).

Services

Baby Premier offers an alternative to patients who want scans in a more private environment and for scans which are not currently available on the NHS, e.g. Nuchal and 4D bonding scans.

Our clinics use the latest 4D ultrasound scanners and offer ultrasound in a comfortable environment, with experienced ultrasound professionals who liaise with the individual's NHS staff when needed.

• Nuchal Scans for chromosomal abnormalities - Including blood test (11-14 weeks) - In some centres OSCAR (One Stop Clinical Assessment of Risk) clinics have been developed for same day blood testing and ultrasound scanning.
