Reassurance and Bonding Scans

Reassurance and Bonding Scan- Non Medical - 3/4Dscan (26-32 weeks)

This 4D scan gives you a unique opportunity to bond with your unborn baby. Using latest technology ultrasound scanners you can see what your baby looks like in 3D - the scanner generates life like moving images of the baby in the womb which are seen at the time of the scan.

We recommend that these scans are made during the 26 - 32 week period when more animated facial images can usually be seen.

As a medical imaging company routinely performing medical scans, we know the quality of ultrasound images is very patient variable. In most cases, by using the expertise of our sonographers and the latest ultrasound technology, great images are produced. However despite this, in some cases the imaging of your baby can be difficult with variable results. This is generally due to the position of your baby, the position of the placenta, the amount of fluid around the baby and the size of the mother - most of which are unpredictable at the time of scanning.

For this reason of unpredictable quality in 3/4D imaging we offer parents a choice of products and don't tie you into any upfront decisions on what you want to take away after the scan. You decide what you want at the time of the scan based on what you see. Be reassured, however, that we will use all our experience and know how in producing the best images achievable during your 3/4D scan.

No matter what you choose the ultrasound reassurance and bonding scan is the same.  You should allow 45-60 minutes for your appointment. Occasionally patients may be asked to return after a walk and drink, so it may take a little longer. During your session we will scan for around 20 minutes, (currently the upper safety limit suggested for 4D scans), which will allow us enough time to obtain 2D, 3D and 4D images of your baby. Safety, comfort, and expertise of scanning are our major goals in delivering a unique and special experience for you.

During the scan we will record a DVD of the session. Additionally the sonographer will record the best still images. If you want these images, they can be saved onto a CD ROM after the scan for printing or e-mailing to others. All the information from the scan is recorded using these different formats and following the scan you can decide which options you wish to purchase.

Medical Scans

Are clinics are accredited by BUPA, AXA PPP and other private medical insurers.

Fetal Viability and Dating scan £95.00 (6-18 weeks)

This scan is performed in the range of 6-18 weeks and is used to confirm the viability of the pregnancy, i.e. to check baby's heart beat and check that the baby is in the uterus.  Gross abnormalities may be detected at this stage but an in-depth anatomy check is carried out at the Anomaly scan at 18-24 weeks (see below).  During this scan a measurement of the baby is taken from its head to bottom (crown to rump up to 14 weeks) to establish the gestational age of the baby. After 14 weeks this is calculated by head measurements, thus calculating the expected date of delivery. Additionally, it is used to determine the number of babies along with their gestational age. It may be necessary on occasions to perform an internal trans-vaginal scan to give a clearer image. 2D Image supplied as black and white photographs.  NHS scans are usually carried out in the range of l2-15 weeks but we can offer this at an earlier stage and with no waiting list, therefore reducing anxiety. We recommend that the patient attends with a full bladder.

Nuchal Scans £190.00 - Including blood test (11-14 weeks)

The Nuchal scan is carried out at 11 to l4 weeks and is a measurement of the amount of fluid at the back of the neck of the fetus.  This measurement, together with a blood test, estimates the risk of the baby having a chromosomal abnormality (Down's Syndrome). 2D Image supplied (Twins £230).

Nuchal scans in London, Manchester and Liverpool

Fetal Anomaly Scan £145.00 (18-24 weeks)

This scan is performed in the range of 18-24 weeks and is a very detailed examination of the baby's anatomy to include, but not limited to, the head, spine, heart and kidneys. This scan also allows for the detection of problems such as cleft palate. The placenta will also be checked for position and the fluid surrounding the baby is also checked. 2D Image supplied as black and white photograph.  This scan is done in a comfortable, stress-free environment allowing the patient time to ask questions and the appointment will take around 30 minutes.  We recommend that the patient attends with a full bladder.  If an abnormality or problem is detected the sonographer will explain the findings and liaise with your obstetrician or midwife to arrange further follow-up.  Do bring along your maternity notes with you for the appointment (Twins £190).

Fetal Growth Scan £90.00 (24-42 weeks)

This scan is performed in the range of 24-42 weeks and provides an assessment of the baby's overall development and growth.   We will also check the placenta and the volume of fluid around the baby.  Also, after 28 weeks, we can assess is the blood flow through the cord.  Measurements taken include that of the baby's head, abdomen and femur and calculations are made to ensure correct development. In addition to this, we can provide an estimated fetal weight. If any problems are detected we would liaise with your obstetrician and midwife.  Please allow up to 30 minutes at the clinic. 2D images are supplied as black and white photographs (Twins £150).

Fetal Presentation Scan £95.00 (Single or Twins) (35-42 weeks)

This scan is offered between 35 - 42 weeks gestation to identify whether baby is cephalic (head down) or breech (head up). This examination will take 15 minutes and 2D images are supplied as black and white photographs. However very late gestation may produce sub-optimal 2D images.

Fetal Gender Scan £85.00 (20+ weeks)

This scan is performed after 20 weeks and is to determine the sex of the baby only.  Baby Premier can determine the gender of the baby with an accuracy of about 97%. In some cases it is the NHS Trust policy not to disclose the gender of the baby.  2D Image supplied as a black and white photograph (Twins £95).

Gynaecological Scans from £95.00

This scan is performed by either an Ultrasonographer or Medical Consultant and is available to patients with or without medical insurance. Baby Premier is affiliated with Consultant Obstetric and Gynaecological practices offering advice, follow up and referral when needed. Our clinics are accredited by BUPA, AXA PPP and other private medical insurers (£145 for insured).
