Reassurance and Bonding Scan - Non Medical - 3D/4Dscan (26-32 weeks)This 4D scan gives you a unique opportunity to bond with your unborn baby. Using latest technology ultrasound scanners you can see what your baby looks like in 3D - the scanner generates life like moving images of the baby in the womb which are seen at the time of the scan. An initial 2D ultrasound scan to check the baby's position and heartbeat is performed. As a medical imaging company routinely performing medical scans, we know the quality of ultrasound images is very patient variable. In most cases, by using the expertise of our sonographers and the latest ultrasound technology, great images are produced. However despite this, in some cases the imaging of your baby can be difficult with variable results. This is generally due to the position of your baby, the position of the placenta, the amount of fluid around the baby and the size of the mother - most of which are unpredictable at the time of scanning. For this reason of unpredictable quality in 3D/4D imaging we offer parents a choice in products and don't tie you into any upfront decisions on what you want to take away after the scan - you decide want you want at the time of the scan - on what you see. Be reassured however that we will use all our experience and know how in producing the best images achievable during your 3D/4D scan. No matter what you choose the ultrasound reassurance and bonding scan is the same. You should allow 45-60 minutes for your appointment - occasionally you may be asked to return after a walk and drink and so this time may be longer. During your session we will scan for around 20 minutes (currently the upper safety limit suggested for 4D scans), which will allow us enough time to obtain 2D, 3D and 4D images of your baby. Safety, comfort, and expertise of scanning are our major goals in delivering a unique and special experience for you. During the scan we will record a DVD of the session. Additionally the sonographer will record the best still images. If you want to purchase these images, they can be saved onto a CD ROM after the scan for printing or e-mailing to others. All the information from the scan is recorded using these different formats and following the scan you can decide which options you wish to purchase. We recommend that 3D/4D scans are made during the 26 - 32 week period, when more animated facial images can usually be seen. At your request we can also determine the gender of the baby with an accuracy of about 97%. If you don't want to know this, please inform the ultrasongrapher at the start of the scan. See Ultrasound description and prices page for full details of all our scans. |
