Ultrasound
Gender Scan (20 – 42 weeks) Print
This scan is performed after 20 weeks and is to determine the sex of the baby only - The gender scan is only performed after a full detailed scan has been performed.

Using ultrasound a female fetus will show three parallel bright white lines within the genital area, or the labia may be seen by the sonographer.

The male fetus will express a round bulbous area within the genital area which is the scrotum and penis. This sometimes can be seen on screen as an appearance similar to a profile of a small snail.

Baby Premier can determine the gender of the baby with an accuracy of about 97%; We will never say that we are 100% sure of gender, as some fetus's can be ambiguous. Gender will be confirmed by the midwife at First Newborn check after birth.

See Ultrasound description and prices page for full details of all our scans.
