What is a gender scan? A Baby Premier gender scan is performed after 20 weeks and determines the sex of your baby. Your
sonographer will confirm the gender of your baby after she or he has performed a wellbeing assessment.
How we discover the gender of your baby Using ultrasound a female baby will show three parallel bright white lines within the genital area or the labia
may be seen by your sonographer. A male baby will express a round bulbous area within the genital area
which is the scrotum and penis. This sometimes can be seen on screen as an appearance similar to a profile
of a small snail.
How accurate is a scan at determining gender? Baby Premier can determine the gender of your baby with an accuracy of about 97%. We will never say that
we are 100% sure of gender as some baby scans can be ambiguous.

• Allow 20 minutes for your appointment
• Occasionally we may ask you to go for a walk or drink some fluids if your baby is lying in an awkward position
